# VMware Standard Switch (vSS) Vs Distributed Switch (vDS)

အားလုံးပဲမင်္ဂလာပါ။ ဒီနေ့မှာတော့ ကျွန်တော် Knowledge Sharing လုပ်ပေးသွားချင်တဲ့အကြောင်းအရာလေးက VMware ရဲ့ Standard Switch လို့ခေါ်တဲ့ (vSS) အကြောင်းနဲ့ Distributed Switch (vDS) အကြောင်းပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ v အသေးကတော့ vSphere ကိုကိုယ်စားပြုပါတယ်။

vSS က အဓိကအားဖြင့် ESXi မှာပဲ သုံးလို့ရပါတယ်။ vSS ကို ESXi ထဲက Virtual Machine တွေနဲ့ Physical Network Card ကြားမှာ Logical အရချိတ်ဆက်ဖို့၊ Management Network တစ်ခု ဒါမှမဟုတ် သီးသန့်အနေနဲ့ Network တွေကိုခြားနားချင်တဲ့အခါမျိုးမှာသုံးပါတယ်။ vSS ကိုသုံးမယ်ဆိုရင် အရင်ဆုံး ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ ESXi Server မှာ အသုံးမပြုရသေးတဲ့ Physical Network Card တွေရှိရပါမယ်။ အနည်းဆုံး (၂) ခုတော့ လိုပါမယ်။ ဘာ လို့လဲဆိုတော့ vSS မှာ အနည်းဆုံး Physical Network Card က (၂) ခုရှိရပါမယ်။ vSS အခေါ်အရဆိုရင် Uplink ဆိုပြီး သုံးနှုန်းပါတယ်။ vSS ဆောက်ပြီးတာနဲ့ ကျွန်တော်တို့က Uplink ကို နှစ်ခုထည့်ပေးရပါတယ်။ Redundancy ဖြစ်အောင်အတွက်ပါ။

vSS ဆောက်ရုံနဲ့ သုံးလို့မရသေးပါဘူး။ vSS ကိုသုံးဖို့အတွက် Port Groups တစ်ခုထပ်ဆောက်ပေးရပါမယ်။ ဒါမှသာ ကျွန်တော်တို့အနေနဲ့ ESXi ပေါ်မှာ VM တွေအသစ်လုပ်တဲ့အခါ Port Groups ကိုရွေးပေးလို့ရမှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ vSS မှာ NIC Teaming, Network Failover Detection, Load Balancing, Traffic Shaping စတဲ့ Features တွေကိုလည်း လုပ်လို့ရပါသေးတယ်။ ESXi တင်လိုက်ပြီဆိုတာနဲ့ Default vSwitch တစ်ခု၊ Management Port Groups တစ်ခုပါပါတယ်။ ဒီ Management Port Groups, vSwitch တွေက ESXi ကို Manage လုပ်ဖို့အတွက် Default အနေနဲ့ ပါတာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ကျွန်တော်တို့အနေနဲ့ VM အသစ်ဆောက်ပြီး Network ကို Separate သွားမယ်ဆိုရင်တော့ Port Groups, vSwitch တွေကို အသစ်ထပ်ပြီးတော့ ပြုလုပ်ပေးရပါလိမ်မယ်။

vDS ကိုဆက်ပြောရမယ်ဆိုရင် vCenter ကနေမှ ဆောက်လို့ရတဲ့ vSwitch အမျိုးအစားပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ အဓိက အားဖြင့် Centralized Management လုပ်ဖို့အတွက် သုံးတဲ့ vSwitch ပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ vDS ကနေမှ တစ်ဆင့် ESXi တွေမှာရှိတဲ vSS တွေကိုပါ တစ်ပါတည်း Management လုပ်နိုင်ပါသေးတယ်။ vDS မှာတော့ vSS ရဲ့ Features တွေ အပြင် Traffic Shaping ကို Inbound/Outbound ပါလုပ်နိုင်ပါသေးတယ်။ Port Policy တွဲပြီးတော့လည်း Port Groups တွေကို သတ်မှတ်ထားနိုင်ပါတယ်။ အောက်ကပုံလေးကတော့ vSS နဲ့ vDS ကိုအကြမ်းဖျင်းဆွဲပြထားတဲ့ ပုံလေးဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒီလောက်ဆိုရင်တော့ VMware vSS နဲ့ vDS အကြောင်းကိုနားလည်ကြမယ်လို့ ထင်ပါတယ်။
